REI Camp Dome 4

Postby Hiker » Tue Jul 27, 2010 11:21 pm

I decided to get a larger tent for car camping -- I opted for the REI Camp Dome 4 because I have the Camp Dome 2 and love it. As usual, the tent was delivered within a few days and to make things even better, I got it for almost 1/2 price due to getting it on sale plus having a coupon - also, since it cost more than $75 the delivery was free -- plus, because REI doesn't have a store in Florida (where I live) I didn't have to pay sales tax! What a bargain!

It's huge compared to the Camp Dome 2, wider, longer, and taller. Set up was exactly the same -- two poles that cross at the top, one pole that holds the rain fly taut. Two doors with large windows will give this tent lots of ventilation.

I set it up in the backyard, and noticed that it came with four stakes, but with the rain fly installed, you need six stakes. I checked the website and it only comes with four -- that's weird! At least stakes don't cost much, so I can pick up a couple extras the next time I'm at the store (any outdoor store).

Now, I'm looking forward to camping with my new tent.

Thanks for the link to view this...The whole problem is that despite having all the gear I need and more than enough tents, tarps, etc...I STILL want another one when I see these things...Ahhhhh.

Good luck with the new purchase...!
